Reliable V100 Digital Velocity Steam Iron

Potentially a great iron, but.....
I ordered this iron to replace my piece-of-junk Rowenta DX8900. I sew and quilt alot, so I was thrilled that Reliable was offering an iron that had the option to disable the auto-off function. I also love the dual heating element feature that allows for the production of steam at any temperature setting, and the water reservoir is huge. That being said, I have found the iron to have two major design flaws in my opinion.

1. The controls are poorly located and it's too easy to accidently change the settings while ironing.

2. The steam function has auto-shutoff. After a few seconds of ironing the steam turns off unless the iron is kept in constant, vigorous motion. It isn't a problem when ironing, but it's a royal pain when trying to press open a seam and other sewing tasks that use long straight motions of the iron. I have to constantly pick up the iron and shake it as I go. I don't understand the point of the offering the auto-off disable feature for...

MADE IN CHINA
Although the publicity states that this is made by a Canadian company, it is actually made cheaply in China. Although it ironed as well but not better than my Rowenta 8800 I returned it to Amazon because:
1. The sole plate is made in China from cheap Chinese stainless steel, the kind that stained right away and spread the stain on my trial pieces. Stainless steel is not all the same quality; this one is low quality. I don't know where the stains came from but they were difficult to remove because unlike the Rowenta, it has a satin finish sole instead of a polished stainless sole. I also did not like the filler, awkward to use and cheaply built like the rest of the iron.
2. It is supposed to have a very precise digital control allowing the user to select high steam but low sole temperature so that the iron will not shine or burnish your clothes. It does have those controls, just like on the expensive steam generators but even on the lowest sole temperature setting with high...

Not perfect
I bought this iron because I liked the idea of being able to get steam at any heat setting. It was way more expensive than most irons but the iron it replaced ran super hot and wound up damaging clothes. I was hoping that by spending more, I would get a better made, more reliable (no pun intended) iron.

This iron turns on automatically when you plug it in. Steam generation though does not turn on automatically and you must turn it on manually. Thats really not a problem for me. There is a digital display that shows temperature setting and steam setting (medium or high are the only two choices) but it does not show whether steam generation is on or off. I found that to be really annoying. The only way you really know is when you start to iron, you can hear the steam generator buzzing. The amount of visible steam is much less than other steam irons I have used so it is hard to tell if it is working otherwise.

There is also a way of turning off the automatic turn...

True Induction Cooktop- Double Burner- Energy Efficient S2F2

A good starter Induction top. Not like a full range,
We are planning a kitchen overhaul and I bought one of these to let my wife experiment with induction cooking before we install a full induction range. Our home is all electric so gas isn't an option.
She loved it from the get go. Very little adjustment really since she had been cooking on an electric range for years.
But be aware, since this is 110 volt unit, it doesn't have near the power of a full 220 volt range. It splits 100% of its power between the two burners. You can run one burner at 100% and the other at zero.. ...both burners at 50%....or one at 70% and the other at 30%. You get the point. And...you really need 100% to sear or fry, so its mostly a one burner unit.
Still... We love it and when we get our new induction range, I'll move this portable unit to my RV.

Saved our life during renovation
I purchased this cooktop over a year ago on amazon, but for various reasons, never used it until recently. We are in the middle of a major renovation, and have had no range for a month. This cooktop has saved our lives. I have cooked every meal on it and really given it a workout.

I use my cast iron and cast enamel Le Creuset cookware and everything works beautifully. When you plug item in, it beeps but does not come on until you hit a button on whichever side you are using. Be aware that level 10 is the top level, but I have never had to go above 5 for a quick boil. Also, level 10 is the max for the entire cooktop: if one burner is on level 6, the max you can use on the other burner is 4. I start a burner on 5 and then adjust down after the pan is fully heated. I usually cook most items at 2 or 3 (except true frying). I just love this cooktop and now know that, even when my new range is installed, I will make room for this wonderful cooktop often.

Review UPDATE !!!
The last review I wrote was crappy because I paid extra $$ and it never got here when expected. The truth is that FedEX was the one that screwed up by leaving it at the store next to the UPS Store because it hadn't opened yet. There it sat for three days until I claimed it today.

I'm very content with the product.. but be aware that you can't run both burners at #10 at the same time because it would consume 3,600 watts and blow your circuit breaker. Instead it's to understand that the product is capable of taking the 1800watts and dividing it.. If you put the right on 7 the highest the left can go is 3 and vice versa.. Buyer needs to understand this and the reasoning behind it. My top of the line microwave only takes 2,000 and there's little chance it would work for long with my 5amp vacuum cleaner running on the same circuit too. I'm sure some dingbat will find a reason to complain about this but for me it makes perfect sense and should be also included in the...

SINGER Expert Finish 1700 Watt Anti-Drip Steam Iron with Brushed Stainless Steel Soleplate, LCD Electronic Settings and Smart Auto-Off

Better than my German-made Rowenta! WOW!
I expected an iron by Singer to be...a lightweight. I WAS SOOOOO wrong! I have a 1400-watt German-made Rowenta iron that has been my standard for a long time but I was BLOWN AWAY by the Singer. 1700 watts makes a difference!

The iron has a good, hefty feel. It has a digital readout that tells you the temp and type of fabric suitable for that amount of heat. It also suggests steam or not. It has a very quiet beep that indicates that the iron is up to temp. And it heats up FAST - less than a minute to the linen setting.

And HOT! Oh baby. Ironed 100% linen in nothing flat, one pass with steam, no heavy pressing necessary. The soleplate is stainless steel and was very smooth. It has a nice point - easy to get the corners and edges - and QUICK.

NO dribbling, spitting, sputtering. The water filling hole has a cover so you can't accidentally slop hot water all over your hands or project.

The phone rang. I left the iron at the board,...

Perfect Iron!
LCDs are so inexpensive these days that they are now on every other device. The LCD on this iron makes it kind of "cool" while giving you quick information about this iron's temperature settings. It shows vertical bars, numbers, as well as text to display the 9 different temperature levels. Each of these nine temperature levels are for different types of garments::

1. Acrylic
2. Nylon
3. Silk
4. Polyester
5. Poly-Cotton Blend
6. Wool
7. Cotton
8. Jeans/Denim
9. Linen

Not only does the LCD provide information about the temperature setting but it also has three indicators that let you know the status of 1) Steam, 2) Anti-Scale and 3) Auto-Off features.

Steam:
Right under the LCD, it has two big buttons for steam: Left one for "Burst of Steam" and right one for "Cool Mist Spray". You can also use the "Burst of Steam" feature vertically if you are ironing clothes or suites that are hanging. The "Cool Mist Spray"...

I wanted to like this iron. I hate it. It dribbles water
I did a lot of research before choosing this iron. After all the time spent, I really wanted to like it!!
The pros: Not too light, not too heavy. Digital controls. Comfortable handle. Not as comfortable as my now deceased B&D 2020 because the top of the handle is flat rather than rounded, but reasonably comfortable nonetheless. Nicely balanced. Good shot of steam feature. Glides easily. Warms up to or decreases heat to chosen fabric temperature quickly and indicates when chosen temperature has been reached.
The cons: The iron dribbles water and leaks! I get random water spots on the clothes I am ironing then must take care not to scorch them. If I rest the iron on its heel and come back a few minutes later, there is water on the ironing board. Secondly, the steam function works when it wants to and doesn't work when it's not in the mood! One moment you are ironing along with great steam. Then on another part of the garment you are getting poor results only to...

General Electric GENERAL ELECTRIC WB2X9883 CHARCOAL FILTER

Sell a Filter, Any Filter. (Buy a Filter, Any Filter?)
Despite the title, this product is not a GENERAL ELECTRIC WB2X9883 CHARCOAL FILTER.

While the dimensions are very close, it does not fit in the microwave as snugly as the genuine part.

The mesh cover has much wider spaces than the genuine part -- so more of the filter is exposed.

The packaging states "Range Replacement Filter... Activated Charcoal... QB 750... 6 1/8 x 11 x 3/8... Made in USA".

Finally, at one quarter the price of the genuine GE part, is it a worthwhile alternative? Given the elusive function of charcoal filters overall, cannot say...

perfect fit filter
Wasn't sure this was the right filter for our older model microwave. But it came in a timely manner and was a perfect fit!

Cheap subsitute for the GE JX81A Charcoal Filter
This charcoal filter can also be used as a cheaper third-party substitute for the GE JX81A Charcoal Filter Kit, but it has less activated charcoal than the JX81A. Both filters are the same physical size.

Jenn-Air Stainless Steel Coil Cartridge JEA7000ADS NEW

A Perfect Replacement
Jenn-Air is still making this cartridge to the standard of the original, which in my case is 20 years old. I appreciate the nice match to my other original cartridge still being used.

great buy
great price for replacement part. arrived on time and was installed easily. I was able to put it in myself and was much cheaper than calling a repairman.

Excellent Buy
No complaints arrived as promised and in good condition. Not sure that the stainless is as thick a gauge as on the originals but fit perfectly and work some much better than the ones they replaced. Overall very satisfied with product and the seller.

Honeywell Black True HEPA Compact Tower Allergen Remover, HPA-050

A little noisy, but efficient
I bought this model after our 3.5 year old daughter tested positive for every allergen imaginable. It's been in her room sitting on her dresser with the door closed running constantly for the past month and the difference it has made is extremely noticeable. Her allergies are severe so I didn't expect this to cure her, but coupled with the right medication it has definitely helped to eliminate dust & help her congestion. We live in an old home and our bedroom furniture is almost always covered in dust, but her room has stayed spotless ever since I began running it. The highest setting is a little noisy, but since the door is closed we don't notice it during the day & she doesn't seem to mind when she's taking a nap or going to sleep for the night. Installing the filter according to the instructions was a little confusing but I eventually figured it out, not a big deal. I knocked off a star only because we haven't had it for very long, so I'm not sure how well it will hold up or...

To my Surprise, it works
I am one of those people that; When people review products and say they help with whatever nuance I am currently trying to remedy, it never ends up working for me like it appears to for them.

In this case, however, I have to say this air purifier works. I have bad sinuses and wake up congested every morning. My left nostril doesn't unclog until I get out of the shower. However, with this air purifier, I wake up with 70-80% less congestion. It's been my experience, that if you have a chronic problem, nothing is going to fix it 100%. However, waking up breathing 70-80% better, I'll take it.

Run the filter 24 hours a day, on high, and close your bedroom door. Due to it's loudness on high, I set it to medium before bed just to make sure my alarm still wakes me up, but I'm 95% sure it would still wake me up even if I kept it on high. It's no worse than running a fan on high from a white noise perspective. When you go out, turn the filter off, just to be safe. Also,...

Filters great
I love the sound (white noise) this product makes. I placed it in my son's room and he sleeps through loud sounds . Nothing in the instructions on how to place the 1st filter (black side facing in or out?) but collecting debris either way so that's all right. Cleaned out the smell after a coupe days (new apartment). Great for allergy season. I don't start sneezing till I walk outside.

Presto 06620 11-Inch Electric Skillet

All I could ask for, almost...
I've been using this pan on a daily basis for about two weeks now and I can say it has met all my demands of it. Eggs and bacon are cooked to perfection without burning either. It heats up quickly, and low temperature works for most foods. I like the fact that the heat is contained in the pan and doesn't heat up the room like gas or electric stove top burners do. The lid is deep enough to allow you to cook a small chicken or roast. The last test I wanted to do was fry pancakes as one reviewer said it wouldn't get hot enough to do it. Well, I was amazed at how well it did fry pancakes. Using thin batter was better than thick, but it fried either one to a golden brown. As far as I'm concerned this is a top quality product and will do anything you require of it. The temperature control is in degrees instead of warm medium and high as some of the others I've looked at. That feature came in handy with the pancakes as the instructions were to preheat to 375 degrees. Well, that's what I did...

Great value for the price!
A nifty little electric skillet that fries, braises and bakes! I bought mine for fish fries but use it for much more, especially during the heat of summer since it doesn't heat up the kitchen like a conventional stove does. A great bargain for the price and lasts forever. Makes a great housewarming or shower gift too!

love this little pan
I think this is my 3rd or 4th of this little 11 inch Presto electric skillet. They don't wear out. I keep giving them away, trying new cookware. My space is too small to accommodate more than one cooking appliance like this.

This version of the Presto skillet is a little different from previous ones. Mostly cosmetic. It works great, fits nicely in my small space, is very easy to clean. The nonstick doesn't come off. It's light weight. It heats fast and cooks evenly. Not much splatters on the heating plug, which goes below the handle for some protection. Of course, the whole pan is submersible once the heating plug is removed.

Rabbit Air BioGS AC Charcoal filter for models SPA-421A and SPA-582A

Love the Rabbit, HATE this filter!
This filter is the one bad part of the system. I have not really noticed the bad smell, but the plastic piece came loose and much of the charcoal escaped. A poor construction on a otherwise good system.

Works great! Is also refillable.*
This is the best carbon filter on the market, pellets work much better then mesh (such as winix carbon filters).

These filters are actually REFILLABLE, I refill mine every couple months(probably overkill). Use a knife and carefully pry the top cover off, it is spot glued. Once off then I discard the used carbon and refill with new carbon(kinda tedious but well worth it). I use carbon from bulkreefsupply.com for only $10 for half gallon/1.5lbs (special grade bituminous carbon). I get about 5 refills per container(for only $10!) I then use small zip ties to reinstall the cover.(theres probably a better/easier way but dont have the time to create one). Let me know if anyone has any better ideas than this. (All n all 5 refills for $10 or replace for 29.95 X 5 = $149.75)

(Ps I am not affiliated with bulkreefsupply.com, research shows they have very high quality carbon for the price)

As far as cleaning it - the most effective way to re activate carbon is...

Not washable
Has this sweet almost acrid odor after washing. I rinsed mine in plain water but I couldn't seem to get rid of the smell. My 2 star rating is in reference to the life of the filter and the fact that I don't believe this product performs well after washing. The filter before washing functions fine. I love my Rabbit Air purifier (its greatly reduced my multiple cat allergies), not a fan of the Charcoal filter.

Suncourt HC300 Heating & Air Conditioning Booster Fan

it works for me
Based on the other reviews, it sounds as though the EQ2 works for some people and doesn't for others depending on their individual room and HVAC configurations. I have an upstairs room with a vaulted ceiling that is 10 degrees Fahrenheit hotter or colder than the rest of the house. The room is more than 200 sq. ft., has only one vent, and is the farthest from the blower. I've had my EQ2 now for 3 years and it is still working fine. The EQ2 brings the temperature difference down to about 4 degrees, which is livable. I tried out the AirFlow Breeze that has 2 DC fans in it but it didn't work as well as the EQ2.

Works great when you know your problem
Like everyone else I have a room that doesn't get the benefit of enough heat. Is is fed by a side duct off the main furnace duct - really a bad design because the heat on its way up three flights races past this duct and even a scoop doesn't cure the 5 degree deficit. I put this fan over one of the two outlets for this side duct, AND BLOCKED THE OTHER to prevent the fan from just pulling air from the other vent. It now has to pull from the furnace and the 5 degree difference disappeared. It is also on a thermostatic control.

Works as advertised
Works as advertised. My family recently moved into a 2-story colonial, and the airflow coming out of the vents in the master bedroom is a little weak, making it warmer than the rest of the bedrooms on the top floor. I could turn down the thermostat, but that would freeze out the rest of the house. The Suncourt (HC500) and Airflow Breeze boosted registers caught my eye, but I wanted a quick solution (i.e. no order-and-wait) and the local Home Depot had the HC300 in stock.

What can I say, but "it works". Without the HC300, the airflow (floor vents shooting upward) reached a height of 3 ft (based on holding my hand above the vent), and with the booster, it reached a perceptible height of 5 feet. With a single booster over 1 of our 2 vents, the master bedroom was noticeably cooler. In fact it worked so well that I ordered two in-vent boosters (HC500) so that I have one for each duct. The weather has cooled down, so I'm unable to compared those to the HC300, except that...

IMCG Silver Gas Range Protectors Set of 4

Good Design - But Not a Good Fit
I have a stainless steel gas range top, and this seemed like a nice solution to the daily chore of cleaning around the burners. My stove is slightly recessed, with curved interior corners, and is flat and open across the middle. The product is much as described, but not a good fit to my stove, and so it may not be a good fit to other than completely flat surfaced stoves. The openings for the burners are very small, presumably to ensure a fit for the smallest burners, however cutting them to fit is not as simple as implied by the rudimentary instructions, and getting a good fit is cautious process of trial and error even with good measurements.

Once you get the openings cut, the next challenge is shape of the surface. My stove has a recessed surface and curved corners, which the liners did not adapt well to. I ended up slitting the corners about

Deni 9770 Electric Pressure Cooker, 2 Quart

Love It! A great pressure cooker at a great price.
This is a great gadget, and much quieter, than any of my other models. I received it and immediately started putting it through its paces. First the water test, it went perfectly, probably did not even "lose" one tablespoon of water. Then made chicken soup, steel cut oatmeal, then black beans, all from scratch; all the food came out perfect.

I could not wait for them to come out with a smaller cooker and was so happy that this came out. As soon as I saw this little baby, I ran down the hall and got my credit card. I am so glad I did.

I foresee no problem using this unit, for me it is the perfect size for many of my recipes. This is my third electronic model, I have several larger ones from other brands, only because there was no smaller electronic choices. I also have had four stove top models which I now rarely use due to the greater ease and safety of the electronic versions.

This model has a DIY, do-it-yourself, option where you can...

easy to use
I received this product promptly, within a few days of ordering. It arrived in excellent condition, and very sturdily packaged. Interestingly in unpacking I thought that the pressure regulator knob was missing. Luckily I never discard the box until every piece is accounted for. In this case this knob was found loose in the bottom of the empty inner box. The cord is over 48 inches long and very thick, with a polarized one way plug.As one reviewer said, you really do have to firmly push in the plug, or it will suddenly stop due to this. The inner pot is NON STICK, which is fine by me, although some do not prefer this. The warning says you cannot deep fry in this as it is very dangerous, can cause a fire etc. I did not know anyone would attempt to deep fry or fry in a pressure cooker.

The instructions are straight forward, but must be followed exactly for getting the lid on. I suggest following the pictures showing the direction of the arrows for closing and opening.
It...

Perfect for my needs
Bought this model 4 months ago from Amazon. Had used stove top pressure cookers before. With this one all you do is load it, dial in the type of cooking and come back when it is done. Use it every day for cooking grains. Works perfect, and you don't have to do anything after starting it, like turning the heat down when it reaches pressure.

Excellent bag, Excellent Price
What I liked the most about this bag is that it didn't cut down on the suction of the Eureka Mighty Mite like some of the HEPA bags that I have used do, and the vacuum runs cooler with less strain on the motor. Will definitely order again from this company. I use this vacuum a lot (I'm refinishing parquet floors in my house) and love it.

General Electric WH49X10042 Washer Agitator Coupling Kit

Diy BASIC
If you want to save yourself the cost of a repairman this is an easy product to remove and install. The internet videos can guide you. Basic repair for a weekend job.

Woohoo!
This little part was easy to install and exactly what I needed to fix my washing machine. My husband was all ready to go out and buy a new one, but I asked him to wait until I got this part in and installed it. Voila! I am a washing machine repair woman! He was so impressed and I saved us a ton of money.

Great replacement part for GE Select 3500 series washing machine.
If your agitator is making funny noises or not spinning then check out the hub underneath it. If the splines are gone then you need this part and the agitator (GE WH43X10034). The install goes pretty quickly with a little patience if your old bolt was rusted like mine. To remove the old hub start with getting the bolt out. If the socket slips around the edges try a 12 point of the same size or the next size down in SAE or metric. Mine didn't budge with any due to the rust so I chipped down the plastic around the bolt until I could get visegrips on the lower shoulder of the bolt. It came right out and then the hub was stuck too. I located the splines and then drilled out the plastic just outside the splines to split it. It came right off and after a little clean up I installed the new one. It took me about 30 minutes after diagnosing the issues and gathering the tools.

The price is probably right for the off brand, but I want to be sure that I buy "true" hepa filters as I have allergies. I have no idea if these filters are as good as the brand name. This ad was definitely false advertising.

Eliminates odors by providing its own
After a couple of minutes running the vacuum with this filter attached, the room starts to smell really bad. The first few times, I didn't quite realize where it was coming from. Now I know, and can hardly wait to get a new filter and throw this one away. Yuck!

Ragalta RWC-120 Black Countertop Thermo Electric Water Cooler with Hot and Cold Dispenser

For those of you having issues with leaking!!!!!
I purchased two of these products because my first one leaked. The exchange process was quick and painless. I am writing this review because when I looked into this item, I was scared of all the negative reviews. First of all, like I said, the first one leaked. The new one did too. I was about to get pretty angry until we decided to take the back off the unit and see where the leak was. Well we found the leak and after a lot of trial and error and water wasted, we figured it out! In the actual reservoir that the black thing sits in, the water cannot fill all the way up or it will leak. So if you just pour cups of water in until it is topped off (as I was doing to test it out), leaking will occur. Now when you put, for example, a 5 gallon jug on top, the reservoir does not fill beyond that point, meaning there will be no leaking. I hate to admit, but I believe the first unit I purchased that leaked was just user error. I hope this can help other people that have purchased this...

Very good for the price.....much greater water flow than other dispensers.
We had to send the first one back because it leaked, but the second one worked perfectly. Other dispensers we've used had a slow dispenser and it took too long to get a glass of water. This one flows much faster, although the hot is a little slower. Great for the price!

Don't Waste Your Money
This purchase was a waste of time and money. The cooler did not work at all. It never dispensed hot or cold water. The fan made some noise as though it was working, but that was all it did. I called the manufacturer's customer service number and it was like talking to someone who was at home in their own kitchen. They were unprofessional, not interested and preoccupied. I sent the cooler back to the seller and had to pay restocking fees.

GREAT PRODUCT !!!
I paid $190.00 shipped free from amazon. UPS delivered it at 2pm. It was doubled boxed and dent free. After unpacking it I carried it down to my rec room. After letting it sit unplugged for 7 hours because you should let the compressor get use to it's new environment for at least 2 hours. I than plugged it in and put 2 refrigerator thermometers fom thermo works one on the top shelf and one on bottom shelf and set the refrigerator thermostat to mid scale. After 48 hours both thermometers read 36 degrees. This refrigerator is also very very quiet. I JUST LOVE IT.

Great big little refrigerator
This item replaced a full-sized bottom freezer refrigerator when we had difficulty getting a new large one delivered to our very rural area. [We have a full-sized super-cold freezer so replacing the freezer compartment wasn't an issue.] As seniors we are eating less and have found this size to be completely accommodating to all our needs, even for the occasional company meal. Keeps food very cold, does not run excessively, is quiet in the kitchen. Good shelf arrangements and unless you need lots of soda can storage (which is limited) provides a good assortment of niches and shelves. Recommended not only for dorm room kids but seniors as well.

great product, quiet and efficient, highly recommended. buy it!
quiet and energy efficient. love the fridge in my bedroom. great for sodas, juice and beer. highly recommended for that reason i dont use it to store meats.

Breville BHM500XL Handy Mix Digital Hand Mixer, Chrome

There is no equal!
These are the best hand mixers on the market. Breville is somewhat new to American markets and is not well known here in the USA, but without a doubt the word is getting out about their superiority. Being a professional baker, I need a mixer that can cut through heavy cookie batters and bread doughs, especially when I don't want to use the stand mixer. No other model on the market has 16 speed settings and I have used every one of them. This thing is powerful! These mixers may cost a bit more, but they are worth every penny for quality and convenience.

Thought there were problems, but customer service was great.
The LCD display for speed and timing seem stuck on 16 and 01:27 no matter what I did. The booklet said nothing about a display sticker that you must first peel off. D'oh!

The beaters did not self-eject. The booklet seemed to imply that pressing the Eject button would release the beaters and it does but they don't fall out. You must tug.

I had my old beater for 30 years and have had two high-end replacements which I returned for various reasons.

This one I'm keeping.

Sturdy
I purchased this almost a month ago. I have never had good luck with hand mixers so this time I wanted to really purchase a quality product. I own a heavy duty stand mixer and I needed a smaller hand mixer to stand up to the demands of a family of eight. I bought this based on a review left by a professional chef. I used this mixer to make my Thanksgiving meal, mixed enough cookie dough to make 15 dozen cookies as well as several batches of bread dough. I have been thoroughly pleased. The starting speed has never splattered flour or wet ingredients. The speed increments are very slight and steady. The timer is very handy. The beaters/dough hooks are VERY sturdy. At first the ejection button was stiff but after a few uses it ejects without any problem. I do not care however for the cord not having a tie on it to stow it away neatly, but I just use a rubberband. Overall Im very happy with how this mixer performs. I also love how it looks.

I wanted a hot dog maker for a long time but didn't want to spend the $ because of all the mixed reviews on the different hot dog makers Amazon offers. But I wanted one so bad I took a chance on this on and let me tell you - HOT DOG ! I do not like frying or boiling hot dogs - I want them just like you get at a convenience store and places like that. Now I have that. Some reviews on different machines said if its round it will cook. So I tried sausage and bratwurst. Hmmmmmm GOOD. I don't like frying those either because I am not the world's best cook - probably second worst (there has to be somebody out there worse than me). Because these items are curvy in shape I make sure they are straight when I prepare them for freezing (I buy in bulk at BJ's) with the Food Saver sealer I bought from Amazon. There was absolutely no problem making these 3 items. I will not comment on cooking time because I preheat the machine then after putting whatever I am making on the machine I just...

ONE GREAT PRODUCT
It's all I Expected and more. Not only can you make old tasting hot dogs , BUT you can also do sausage' s too.

IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT, HAVE TOLD EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT IT. THEY TO CAN ' T WAIT TO GET THEIR OWN.

Duraflame Bennington Infrared Rolling Mantel in Meridian Cherry

recieved damaged
I received the Duraflame Chandler 23" Fireplace damaged. All 4 casters were broken. I called the customer service number at Factory Authorized Outlet and was transferred to Twin-Star customer service without even being told. Twin-Star customer service gave me a "problem ticket" number and said someone would call in 1-2 days. After one week and no call, I called back and gave the person the ticket number and was told again that I would be called. Almost another week and no call. The damage issue could be resolved with parts, however, I will now have to return the $230 item as there is no customer service.

Extremely satisfied with this infrared fireplace heater.
After much research and consideration, and after a disappointing purchase of a smaller infrared heater, I purchased the Duraflame Chandler 23" fireplace heater. This purchase was for my mom who is 83 years old. She has a woodstove in her family room and we came to a mutual agreement that last winter was her last winter to build and maintain fires in the woodstove. It had become too physically taxing for her to continue doing so. She is very pleased with the Duraflame Chandler fireplace heater. It keeps the family room (where she and her sister, who is 85, spend most of their hours)at a toasty temperature. My mother also loves being able to watch the fireplace "flames" and is really enjoying this heater. The adjustable thermostat and remote control are great additions that were not available on the first infrared heater that I purchased (and returned). Everyone who has seen the fireplace give it high marks for functionality and beauty. My mom received her first electric bill that...

great product
Everything is perfect...I have a 12x25 room in my basement...warms it up quickly...beautiful mantel and realistic flame...makes everything comfy...perfect size...

Waring WC400 Professional Wine Center

Opener is great / pumper not so much
This is a very nice looking product and seems well made. It comes with an opener (5 stars by itself), a pumper, 2 vaccum corks (for the pumper) and a foil cutter. The opener is fantastic. Just set it on the cork, hold the bottle and push the button. The electric opener does the rest. When the cork is out simply use the reverse button and out comes the cork. Set it back in the charging station and it will be ready to go again whenever needed. The other part of this set is a pumper. It seems to make a vaccum but nothing like we get with the hand pumper we have had for years. My pumper may be defective but I would suggest getting just the opener if it is available that way.

Classy looking and effective
Bought this as a gift for my husband's birthday. He LOVES the way the cork just slips effortless out and is easy to remove from the device. The vacuum doesn't do quite as good a job as the manually operated ones, but sure beats cranking away at them, especially when just one glass worth is left at the bottom. We never had a foil cutter, and now appreciate the good job it does with so little effort.

Great Product
I have gone through 2 other cork screws - rabbits in fact no comparison
This is easy to use, heavy in the hand and looks great on the counter
It came with 2 stoppers but I can use the stoppers that came with my manual bottle sealer
If giving a gift the box is beautiful - it almost look like a presentation box
I have nothing negative to say about the product and would recommend it highly to anyone who regularly drinks wine or just wants to give someone with a bar a nice gift.

SAMSUNG OEM DC47-00015A Thermostat;B-2,-,250

impossible to put in
much easier and about the same price to buy the entire assembly, which is fairly simple to remove and insert. don't bother with just this part.

Fixed it myself!
The heating element went out on my Samsung dryer. While I was replacing that, I went ahead and replaced the thermostats as well. Everything works great now and was easy to replace for fraction of the cost of a service call. Thanks.

Home Techy
First, I dont like to pay repairman for jobs I can do. There are lots of places/forums which you can ask the experts for the parts and help. Just take proper precautions while working with electrical items. That being said, replacing thermostats, limit switches and coils are very easy to replace for the relative handy person. These parts can easily be tested using a the cheapest basic multi-meter for continuity. My coil and thermostat went on my Maytag Neptune front loader. The packaging and shipping great as usual. I tested the thermostat for continuity prior to installing. While i was in there i ordered the other thermostat, limit switch and heating element(coil) and replaced them all (less than$100 for all of them) The dryer now has all new parts and works like a charm (changing the heating element certainly makes drying times faster!)

KitchenAid KHM5APWH 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer, White

Its a Hand mixer
Alright, i've had this hand mixer for two days now (did research for 3 weeks). I truly don't understand most of these poor reviews. I have already made a two layer cake with home made frosting using this product. I was able to basically kneed the frosting using the hand mixer with ease. I was probably using it for about 10 minutes and my arm felt fine during and after words. The product is very light weight, yet the motor is plenty efficient. Speed 5 is not very fast, but honestly, i probably wouldn't want it to go any faster. I hear some people having problems with speed 1 being the same as speed 5. Heres the thing, this product is smarter than a 1950's hand mixer. Instead of burning out the motor because your an idiot using speed 5 with cookie dough, it'll self protect and stay lower. The instruction manual clearly states which speed to use with which item you are baking. If you go above that, well then you should expect problems. Heres the difference between this, and my hand mixer...

Karen Loves Mixer
bought this for my wife.item comes with dough hooks, whisk, and beaters. we thought it would be great in motor home, but karen uses it for everything. yes, she has a large kitchen aid and huge cusinart, but still uses this mixer. i even made pizza dough with it and motor in mixer just gobbles away without a whimper. nice to hold, long cord, rebate: what else do you need? buy it.

loose beater
i have owned this modle fr a few years and bake frequently. my only complaint with the mixer was the left beater would no longer stay in the mixer--the locking mechanism failed and i could not get that repaired. what a shame to spend $40 plus for a new mixer just because the beater won't stay in......

InSinkErator Evolution Pro Excel 1 HP Garbage Disposer, Stainless Steel

Insinkerator Evolution Pro Stainless Steel Disposer
I have used this product in my home and friends that have asked me to install a disposer in theres. First question I ask - how many time in the life of your home do you want to be buying and installing a disposer? That pretty well discribes this machine - you will only have to do this one time and you will smile every time it turns on, now or a decade from now.

Every Bit As Good As They Say
I agree with all the excellent ratings - but be sure to order the connector cable, this needs more emphasis in the Excel ad. The rubber protector insert that does come with it works so well that water backs up a bit in the sink if it isn't regularly cleared (not a complaint) Overall, a very effective way to dispatch your relative-or-neighbor-from-hell and no one will hear it, even in the next room.

Best Disposal
Arrived quickly using Amazons 2 day service. Product is total quality. Super quiet, so quiet you have to strain to hear it running. This is the top of the line disposal and the price was great through Amazon!

Oster CKSTGRFM40 Removable Plates Folding Griddle, Black

Done that.
I've owned one of these for about 7 years now; it's been a fairly decent griddle.

Pros:
1. Better-than-average, even heating.
2. Folds for storage - takes about the same space as a large waffle iron on end.
3. Two thermostats - so you can cook pancakes (high heat) on one side and eggs (low heat) on the other; or if you're making a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches you can heat just half.
4. Easy to clean - pop off the plates and they go in the dishwasher.

Cons:
1. It keeps falling apart - there are several screws that hold the two halves together; they stay snug for maybe 2 uses and then need to be re-tightened.
2. Plastic rim around the griddle plates has become brittle and is breaking.
3. If you loose or forget to use the grease cup that locks it open then it tends to fold unexpectedly when using.
4. Small hole for grease, complicated grease run-off system - tends to clog up.
5. The wide-open seam in the middle...

Great Griddle
My wife wanted this for Christmas last year. It has come in so handy for cooking turkey burgers, hamburgers, and big breakfasts! This is an excellent griddle and is in perfect condition 1 year later after heavy use.

Just got it but very pleased.
I have very little space in my kitchen and get very spoiled during spring, summer and fall using my large outdoor George Foreman grill to make grilled veggies. You need a large surface if you want to have the veggies in a single layer and are making them for multiple people. I browsed some griddles on Amazon and was happy to see that there were models available that folded up. Lucky for me, I was able to get this exact model locally on sale.

When you take it out of the box, it's folded so I could see that it would fit nicely on my counter against the wall and leave me ample space for plates and whatnot when not in use. When the grill is opened it's bigger than I thought it would be but fits on the counter. I have an electric stove and burner covers right next to the counter so I can use that surface for plates and stuff.

As a test, I mixed up a small serving of fresh carrot chips, green beans, onion, a little bit of oil and some Mrs. Dash seasoning in a bag,...

Broan QS136SS 36-Inch Allure Range Hood, Stainless steel

Great purchase!
Very nice quality - installed easily and really improved the kitchen over the old hood.
Lights are bright and the fan is so quiet that we had to look to see if it was running!
Wish we had changed to this on years ago!

Beautiful, Sleek and QUIET!!
We are re-modeling a kitchen and wanted a stainless steel look. We priced several models in various home stores, but were a little put off by the price. We saw this one and were a little leery of ordering sight-unseen, but the price was GREAT...so we jumped in. First, Delivery was IMMEDIATE from Amazon and I mean, (no kidding) NEXT DAY!! Wonderful! Second, the hood is as good and better than many we saw at far higher prices. It is sleek and well-made. The REALLY LARGE fan moves air and is extremely quiet. This is really an upscale look for our budget. Highly recommended.

Not the best build quality
Overall, not impressed. I have a 7" vertical pipe vent and while they include a damper for every other vent option, they tell you to go buy one for vertical pipe installs (along with the bulbs, which I at least knew about ahead of time). That's more of an inconvienence (HD didn't have one, installed without). The real annoyance came when I realized the fan didn't move freely within the hood. Ended up being the mounting bracket for the motor wasn't level. After straightening it (cheap metal), it at least spins now but since the plastic fan blade is also slightly warped there's still characteristic "off balance fan" noises at high speed. And since there was no damage to the box at all, I'm going to have to blame it on poor workmanship. Also, while the light output is quite good, since the front part of the vent doesn't really have a lip along the front to try to lead moisture to the fan intake.. we see a lot of steam rolling past the front even with the thing on high, or as...

GE WR60X10185 Refrigerator/Freezer DC Evaporator Fan Motor

Ok, but have a pin pusher tool
I bought this because mine was making a whining noise. After installing it, it was quieter but still at low speeds whines a little. Gave it a 3 star because it did not totally fix the issue. If you do this your self you will need a pin pusher tool to remove one of the pins from the original plug from the defrost thermister. I got in the repair not prepared and ended up having to solder wires together.

Fix your Fridge! Drop-in OEM Part Replacement
Milk spoiling? Fridge runs and runs and is cold in the back of the freezer, but no air blows when you open it up? You can fix your fridge! Rather than throw out that >$1000 fridge, buy a simple to install replacement part!

This part was an exact drop-in replacement for the old motor in my GE refrigerator (same Panasonic part number).

I did have to remove a molded on silicone rubber mounting piece on the old motor's wiring harness (this is seen in some photos of this motor out on the web) so I could mount it on the new motor. If you want to do this (optional, OCD engineer step), slice the rubber carefully lengthwise along the direction that the wiring runs so that you can free it from the over-molded part. Once you have the old wiring harness free, you can slip the rubber mount onto the new motor's wiring harness in such a way that the new wires run where the old wires were placed.

While you have the fridge opened up for service, you should go...

Easy install
I bought this fan motor for my Frigidaire Side-by-Side. The repairman was acting like a complete twerp so instead of paying him upwards of $200 for parts and labor I instead got this for $40. Opened the backplate in the freezer section, took out the old fan motor, plugged in this one (every plug is color coded) et voila!

It works, I am happy and the repairman is unhappy so I am even more happy. Plus my wife thinks I am this electronics genius. Ha!

Lasko 4911 11.85-Inch Twist-Top Tower Desk Fan, Black

A New Twist in Desktop Fans
I was looking for a desktop fan with a compact footprint.

I checked out the Vornado Flippies, of which only two were on display in my local store, one a little $20 model and the other a fancy $70 model with remote control. The $20 unit didn't move enough air for my purposes, and the $70 model was a bit pricey for the function. And why does one need a remote control for a personal fan to be used within arm's length any way?

Then I saw this little Lasko, and it filled the bill. Totally silent in operation, providing sufficient air output for a desktop fan, and priced right at under $25. With oscillation and the unique twist design, which lets you broaden or narrow the air flow as suits your purpose, both thrown in for good measure.

The Lasko offers three speeds, but I will probably use high speed most of the time.

The build quality appears to be good, with a robust power cord and illuminated push buttons controlling on/off/fan speed and...

My Fan favorite
I have used many fans on my desk at work and have found this fan to be the best. The oscillation feature is nice but not necessary since the airflow produced is more than adequate. Very pleased about the little noice it makes even on the highest setting and the small amount of space it takes up is great.

Handy Little Fan
Having the two segments that distribute air in different directions is pretty neat as is the oscillating feature. However, the wife just uses it with each segment pointed at her with no oscillation as a little bedside personal fan. She is pleased with it.

Kalorik Stick Mixer, White/Red

Kalorik Stick Mixer
I've used this mixer every day to make a quick, nutritious breakfast smoothie. I learned of the Kalorik when it was recommended in an America's Test Kitchen product review. I LOVE IT!

Perfect tool for soup
Just the thing for making smooth soups. You can't operate it for very long at a stretch, but it is very fast, so you don't need to. It is so much better than trying to put you soup in a blender or food processor and spilling it or burning yourself. It doesn't take up much room, is easy to clean, and it is well worth getting, even for the cook who only needs it occasionally.

very handy and easy to use for "light duty" jobs
you won't be able to grind meat or mix up bread dough bit it's great for whipping cream, pureeing frozen berries (after thawing) and it's is easy and neat. open the bag, stick the mixer into the bag and you can use the bag to store the pureed berries, saves time and trouble. i haven't tried chopping onions, bell peppers, etc. it's useful for tiresome mixing that could be done by hand with a whisk. since a stroke 3 years ago weakened my left side just stirring soup was a chore. this is very handy. . . no pun was intended. oh well.

Lasko 5622 Low Profile Silent Room Heater, White

Warm and quite
This unit provided heat for my 11 x 20 dining room during a remodeling. It is quite and unobtrusive. I would buy it again.

Heat up my med-size room very quick
Perfect for a mid-size room (14x16). Easy to operate and bring the temp in my room up to 75 degree in less than 20 minutes. Love it!

Fairly Useless
Unless you want to spend your time messing with a totally unreliable thermostat than don't buy this heater. This would be an awesome heater if not for that problem. I also have one of their tower heaters, the kind that blow hot air and the thermostat on that one is better but not much. I don't recommend buying any Lasko heater that features a digital thermostat, they're all, as far as I can see unreliable.

Filtrete Bissell 8 and 14 Filter, 1 Filter Per Pack

replacement filter for Bissel vacs
I bought this filter as a replacement for a common bissel vacuum cleaner. After months of use, you can see the HEPA filter turning from white to gray as it clogs and needs replacement.
I could find it in Home Depot or Lowes. This is the sort of replacement item that stores like Lowes or HD will keep in stock unenthusiastically, some of the time. It won't get discounted or advertised like the big box purchases.

Amazon gets you the replacement parts you need without wasting gas and time looking around for them. And at a lower price. It seems to work well and appears to be the genuine article.

Good Filter
I've used Filtrete filters in the past for other things (like home HVAC systems) and have had good luck. Of all the filters available for my Bissell Cyclonic vacuum, I was hoping this would filter the best. I have no way to prove it other than to tell you that it filters better than the previous Arm & Hammer filter I had in. I know this because I see less (actually no) dust coming through it compared the A&H and it gets dirtier faster which means its collecting more dust & dirt. That's what you want... dust and dirt in the filter rather than floating in the air in your home or apartment.

Filters great
What can you say about a filter. It either filters or doesn't and this one does a great job. I don't think I can write 20 words but I am trying.

Cannon Safe SGD57 Silica Gel Dehumidifier

Every gun safe should have one.
The product description is not very detailed, so I will provide some additional information. The canister is perforated steel, round, and measures 4 inches high by 5 1/4 inches in diameter. The bottom of the canister is labeled "Hydrosorbent Silica Gel Dehumidifier 750 Grams Silica Gel", "protects 57 cubic feet / 1614 litres", and contains the reactivating instructions (325 F for at least 3 hours). Note that it ships in it's own packaging, which is a rather thin cardboard box. Select "this will be a gift" during checkout and it will ship inside another box with padding. I hope you find this additional information helpful.

Better Products on the Market
Package wasn't in mint condition and canister wasn't full to the top as similar products are. Product does what it is advertised to do hence 3 stars.

not bad but...
It is what they say it is, but the silica seems to be a bit small. I get a powder or small particles come out of the case when I handle it. Might go away with usage.

GE PHP900DMBB Profile 30" Black Electric Induction Cooktop

BYE BYE messy & inefficient gas cooktop !!

This Cooktop is Fantastic!
Cooking (mainly Italian) is my hobby. My 16 year old GE radiant still worked but the amount of time it took to heat up and, most importantly, the amount of time it took to cool down was frustrating. The heating time could be blamed on older burners but it is typical for radiant cooktops to take quite a while to cool down. When I had something that needed to be heated to boiling and then reduced to a simmer I had taken to turning on two burners -- one on medium or high and the other on low and moving the pan between them.

I would have thought about a gas stove but my kitchen is not plumbed for gas. When I saw the induction concept I was somewhat sceptical at first and bought a single burner induction cooktop to try the concept. I quickly became a convert. The induction cooktop will bring water to a boil in less than half the time of my old radiant cooktop and, more importantly, the temperature can be reduced immediately. And when I say "immediately" I mean immediately. One...

Amazing
In the heirarchy of cooktops, induction is king. Although induction is powered by electricity, it should not be confused with traditional electric cooking.

Induction provides instantaneous results. The speed of heating a pan is amazing (surpasses gas and electric in speed and control), it does not throw heat (other than the hot pan), and the lack of heat generated beneath the surface means the cooktop is much cooler than either electric or gas, because there are no heating elements in the unit. Also, induction costs far less to operate than gas or electric.

This unit has digital controls (with a lit display that only shows when it is on), and I know, for example, that olive oil will burn in the pan above 5, but 4.5 is perfect for sauteing. And it will remain perfect for sauteing throughout the entire cooking process, it will not get hotter or colder.

Furthermore, you can store anything on the cooktop (we keep a bottle of olive oil on there, as well as...

Rowenta DW4060 Auto Steam Iron 1700W with Airglide Stainless Steel Soleplate Auto-off Anti-Scale, Blue

Excellent Iron...
We've "suffered" with a Black and Decker iron for a few years. While it worked it just wasn't doing a great job and for the longest time, we didn't want to invest in a new iron if it wasn't broken. Well, it finally broke so we tried the Rowenta DW4060 and, wow, it is like night and day.

The iron is a joy to use. Not only does it heat up quickly, it also steams very well. I can actually iron without starch with this iron. The narrow tip is excellent for getting around buttons and tight areas. There are a lot of settings but we mainly use it on the higher settings and it has done a great job each time. Auto Shutoff works as normal and iron is rather lightweight.

This Iron has been excellent and I've not picked up a can of starch since having it. I can highly recommend this iron.

Lightweight, fantastic steam power
This Rowenta has a lot going for it and is a lot better in many ways than my old Panasonic iron. This iron is probably 20 percent lighter, which makes ironing noticeably less tiring and labor intensive. I think this is because the smooth silver plate is thinner. Despite the lighter weight, I find with the help of the steam function, I don't need to press hard to get the wrinkles out.

The steam feature on this iron is really effective. There are more holes and the steam comes out in nice big clouds and easily blasts out the wrinkles. However as a result, I find it goes through water about twice as fast as my old iron, but that is because it is actually steaming like it should. I always use distilled water to prevent buildup. I can probably iron 4 pair of pants on high steam before having to refill the tank.

Most of what I iron are cotton items like chinos and t-shirts. I simply set it to cotton and it heats up very fast and works like a charm. The nose plate is...

Very nice iron
This iron replaces the Black & Decker D2030 Digital Advantage we were very happy with. But that iron has seen use and now the spray nozzle is clogged. Just the excuse to get a new iron. So how does this one compare to that highly rated iron? Here are pros and cons:

Pros:
* Precision tip works really to get into the corners.
* Cord stays out of the way nicely.
* Does a good getting the wrinkles out.
* Delivers a good amount of steam.
* Digital light telling you when the iron is hot enough.
* Electronic shut-off.
* Vertical steam function (probably not going to replace a dedicated steam machine if you need one, but nice to have in a pinch).
* Scratch resistant, stainless steel hot plate.

Cons:
* Steam is non-adjustable. Steam adjustment is not independently set from temperature. That was a nice a feature on the B&D.
* Light does not tell you when it is done going from a hot temp to a cooler one.
* Does not...

BISSELL PowerGroom Bagless Upright Vacuum, Blue, 92L31

Absolutely Fabulous Bargain!
OK, I have checked out a number of different vacuums over the past few months, and I have to tell you that THIS vacuum is the best deal for the best vacuum. If you need a vacuum for all-purposes (light and heavy traffic), don't want to spend a small fortune, and are overwhelmed with all the choices out there, look no further. This is it. For under $100, you simply can't go wrong!

Assembly was incredibly simple. All I needed was one screw (provided) to attach the handle. Then I just snapped in the attachment hose and popped the attachments into their slots and voila! All together, it took about 6 minutes, and that included the wrangling to get the tape off the box (which was more of an issue than putting the vacuum together, if you believe it).

This machine has really powerful suction. With four doggies, I have issues with a lot of grass tracked in on their paws (and my husband's shoes), but this took one or two swipes to get everything up. It also propels itself...

Does well cleaning floors, gets right up to the walls
Being easy to assemble, the Bissell PowerGroom handle slides right into place and is then secured with the one screw that is provided. That's all the assembly that is required for this cleaner. The extension wand, crevice tool, dusting brush, and TurboBrush simply snap into their storage areas, and the hose twists into place.

The pickup-suction on carpeting has been excellent. With 5 height settings (more than the typical 3 settings that every other vacuum I'be owned has had) it can be set to clean everything from bare floors to shag carpets. I've found the 3rd setting to be the best for average pile carpet, still easy to push and yet good suction.

I took the vacuum over to my mother's house across town to try it out, because she has ceramic tile throughout her entire home, and mentioned at some point she needed to borrow my vacuum to clean her large area rugs. She mentioned that that the vacuum she has wouldn't pick up the sand and fine dirt that gets tracked...

Has some nice features
I vacuum daily to remove pet hair and dust from my carpets (I have allergies) so I was curious about how well this vacuum would work. It has some very nice features like the extra long cord, a long hose with a handle on it, and a HEPA filter. When this was first assembled, we thought there would be a problem with the wheels, as they seemed to be a bit stuck. I had no problems while using it though, it worked fine. I have two other Bissell Vacuums that feel smoother to use than this one and are quieter, but the features on this model make up for it.

The vacuum has a light in the front, which I find very useful. I often times have to vacuum late at night, or clean areas where the light comes in handy. The light also works to help you see dirt or smears on glass doors that you might have missed. The hose is pretty long and comes with many attachments. I used the TurboBrush to remove some dog hair from pillows. It worked fine but stopped a few times. I think the brush does...

SPT 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner Energy Star WA-1211S

WA-1211S - Even better than expected!
The current Amazon description does NOT do this unit justice! What it tells you is the following:

Energy star Window Air Conditioner
12000 BTU cooling Capacity
3 fan speed
Washable Filter
Temperature Range from 62-86 F

Now, let me tell you what this unit REALLY offers!

---

PROS:

First, it has a remote control. This is a big thing for us... we don't like to have to keep getting up and down whenever we want to change a setting... and settings it has! With the remote, you can not only change the temperature, but also set the timer, fan speed, sleep mode, and operating mode (cooling, fan, "drying" - which I'll get into in a moment..., or AUTO)

It has a timer! You can set your air conditioner to shut off after a certain amount of time - up to 24 hours in half-hour increments (one-hour increments after 10 hours). This is great for those of us who "accidentally" fall asleep while watching a movie or...

Outstanding AC unit and did I mention QUIET?
We've all been through the AC Jig ... you buy a fancy name brand, you install it, and the problems begin. Given that this was the year to replace the two window ACs in the house, I decided to "go rogue" and order the SPT instead of a Fedders or Frigidaire or the like.

I'm glad that I did.

This is an amazing AC ... it's actually relatively quiet - both on the compressor side and on the build side. Note that I did not say silent, but compared to other 10k-12k BTU units, it's like listening to ambient trance instead of techno. Nice. No longer do I have to walk over to the AC and slap it on the side to get it to quiet down - the poorly engineered housings of the other, name-brand units rattle and squeak and complain too much - and since I am no longer hitting inanimate objects, we're going to save a lot of money on therapy for me.

I like the remote (which you can use from 90 degrees to the side (apparently a miracle of modern technology that has escaped...

Worked for one summer
I purchased this AC last May and it worked all summer, which was great.

So today, when it turned 85 degrees in NYC, we powered it up and it does not turn on.
I can hear the compressor turn on but none of the fans turn on.

I get on the call with customer service at Sunpentown, which is based in CA.
Got through, they had to verify with their Amazon rep. My purchase checked out but the warranty requires me to ship the unit all the way to CA. Pay about $100 out of pocket to ship it there.

I'm told turnaround for repair is 2 1/2 weeks. So add that to shipping time and other overhead, I'm waiting nearly a month to get a warranty repair? I wrote back to the rep, who will hopefully get back to me tomorrow, to see what alternatives I have. If this is the only option what would you do?

Lesson learned so far, don't buy large and heavy items online if you need the warranty.
Should have bought local. Will Amazon do anything to help...

Fagor Slow Juicer

Good for most fruits, not your greens
This juicer is great for tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, strawberries, apples, pineapple, and I am sure a plethora of others. Things like this I had no problems with at all. The problems.. kale, celery, spinach and surprisingly blueberries. Every time I tried juicing these it would clog. I even tried cutting these items up into half inch pieces and it still jammed! It is VERY inconvenient to be in the middle of making a juice and have to stop, take the whole thing apart, and clear the jam. So my advice is, as long as you are not juicing greens you should be ok. If you are juicing greens look for another juicer.

Great Juicer
Initial thoughts from a couple of days juicing...

It does a better job of juicing than the pulp ejection juicer (spinning blade) we had, but the juice has a little more pulp in it (not a lot but noticible). Not that i think that is a bad thing but something to consider. It doesn't really require you to push the fruit down as the auger crunches and self-feeds the fruit and vegetables if they are in the right size.

Cons - somewhat involved cleaning process since it has a lot of pieces. Not hard to clean but lots of parts to clean individually if you are really trying to do it right.

Conclusion: I really like it and I didn't have any issues with clogging on greens (kale or spinach)

Our Fagor is great
We have the Omega 8004 and had purchased the new Omega VERT350HD. Both are top of the line and we love them both. After seeing the Fagor for 199.99 we took the Vert350 back and took a chance on the Fagor. Let me tell you, it juices just as well and actually cleans up a bit easier due to the open slot in the pulp ejecting chute. Its a good looking machine with nice clean styling and is plainly marked for putting it back together after cleaning. Full 5 year warranty on motor and all parts. Get the Omega if you want, its a great machine but it really has nothing on this Fagor unit other than a longer warranty. Happy juicing everyone.(Omega $379.00, Fagor $199.99 and Bed Bath at Beyond)

30ft Central Vacuum Zippered Hose Sock Cover

Nice product, color not same as pictured
This hose cover is exactly what I needed. I was sick of seeing my wife drag the hose across our hardwood floors and seeing damage on our moldings. The unit shipped was a dark forest green, nearly black which I was ok with because it won't show dirt anytime soon. I installed the unit in all of about 90 seconds since it just zips on or unzips off. I would not buy a unit that wasn't zippered since I would have to wrestle with the hose to get it all the way on or off.

There were some loose threads that I snipped but overall the quality is fine for what this product is. The zipper is hidden by some fabric to keep the zipper from dragging on your floors and doing any damage. It's made in China which I wish wasn't the case.

its too tight for the hose
The sock itself is so tight that the zipper keeps coming apart in areas along the length of the hose.

Great solution.
I've never heard of such product until I complained to my painter that the molding was always getting scuffed by the central vac hose. He told me about the hose sock cover and it is a great solution. It is LIGHTLY padded, it glides across the floor, fits perfectly from end to end and it's green (not blue like in the picture).

Cuisinart DFP-3 Handy Prep 3-Cup Food Processor

Nifty appliance; has a couple of bugs
Having picked this item up on an Amazon special, I must first say that the price-performance ratio is excellent. The machine comes with several blades and a chute attachment. If you have used a Cuisinart machine before, assembly and operation will be very, very simple. That the pieces are dishwasher safe is a boon, as well. I like this little processor; its small size is just right for our empty nest food prep.

There are a couple of things Cuisinart could perhaps rethink. It is awkward to remove the slicing or shredding blade. The plastic used on several of the pieces seems vulnerable to staining. The shredding blade seems, for some ingredients, to "pulverize" better than to shred. It would also be nice to have at least one other size of slicing disc and a plastic chopping blade included. Those refinements would make this machine nearly perfect for me.

Still, this sturdy workhorse is a welcome addition to our kitchen. Those who have smaller amounts of ingredients...

Best Value - Well made
The quality is amazing. Easy to use, easy to clean. This was my first Processor and I'm hooked. I use it almost every day and it's so small (or "compact") that it takes up very little counter-top space.

For the price, it's a great value. The only drawback is that I love it so much, I'm already thinking about buying one of Cuisinart's larger models that does even more stuff.

It comes with the one multipurpose blade (which does just about everything) and a separate slicing and shredding blade. The slicing and shredding blades work O.K. but not as great as on larger models I've seen - so I use the multi-purpose blade 90% percent of the time.

I wish they sold additional blades for this model but I haven't seen them. (That would probably take away from sales of the bigger models).

But I still love it. And give it my highest rating.

Good, but not stunning
This was the 2nd processor I tried and it certainly does the trick for small projects. I've had it for about a year. It's great if you want to make about a cup worth of something, which is why it's considered small. If you try to make too much of something then it will just pulverize what ever is on the bottom and leave the top unchopped or barely chopped. This can make processing anything more than a cup worth a time consuming effort, you have to put in the food, chop it, scrape it, and then repeat. I've found it especially useful for sauces and dips that need to be completely pureed. It's also great at chopping up nuts (like peanuts for Pad Thai!). I will probably graduate to a larger one eventually but for now it works for me.

Vacbelts Dyson DC17 Vacuum Belts 2-Pack; Replaces Dyson DC17 Part 911710-01 (91171001)

Perfect!
This is the 3rd belt I've ordered from Vac Belts for my Dyson DC17 (My wife likes to vacuum up headphone cables, etc). I last ordered a year ago from a listing titled "1 Dyson DC17 Belt" but when I clicked on it from the "my orders" link, it now showed "Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Gear Belt" so I searched elsewhere. I still wanted to buy from Vac Belts and found this listing for a 2 pack. I figured I'd keep a spare since I know I'll need it eventually. I ordered on Thursday morning and had the belts Saturday morning! Install was under 2 minutes and my Dyson is as good as new! Highly recommend Vac Belts!

great value
the belt is alot narrower than dyson belt but for the price I have 2. Has worked well so far

dyson belt
Works wonderful for my dyson sweeper. Would recommend it if you need one. Super fast shipping was great. I now have a backup one too.

Margaritaville Mixed Drink Maker

An Expensive Novelty - Our Guests Will Love It
Review of the Margaritaville Mixed Drink Maker, currently $300.

How it works:
Load one liquor (rum, vodka, or tequila) in one canister and load the other canisters with sour, cranberry juice, and pulp-free orange juice.
Turn the dial to select one of 16 drinks that use a combination of the four liquids.
Produces 8 oz of mixed drink designed to be mixed with 8 oz of ice. You'll be able to make 15 to 17 drinks before having to refill the canisters.
I uploaded a list of the drinks you can make with each liquor.

Go to margaritavillecargo dot com and watch the videos.

Pros:
- Looks cool - will impress your alcoholic friends
- Well made - should hold up for at least a couple of years
- Ease of set-up, use and clean up - can even be used drunk
- Lightweight and portable (when empty)
- Can get a single shot of liquor (my feature of choice)

Cons:
- Manufacturer recommends that you don't substitute...

An Expensive Bells and Whistles Ice-Coater...
The Margaritaville Mixed Drink Machine is an expensive little bit of fun. At the moment the Mrs. And I can think of no real competitor... if you're looking for a machine that will act as a mini-bartender and dispense a variety of mixed drinks, this is the machine.

There is a definite limited-duration "wow" factor for the MMDM once set up - and the set-up is quite easy, as is the clean-up for a device with so many parts. In addition to ease of setup and cleaning the machine seems pretty sturdy - plastic parts are mixed with metal ones, but there isn't a "cheap, flimsy" feeling. There are four tanks that are loaded on top of the machine: Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Sour Mix, and your choice of Tequila, Rum or Vodka.

After you've correctly loaded the machine and punched the button choosing the liquor of choice the machine gives a cheer (really) and tells you "Fins Up!" Then the show starts. There is a dial you turn to choose one of the 16 drinks that can be...

Love it!!!!!!!!
This is our 2nd Margaritaville machine, we absolutely love our 1st machine the Tahiti DM3000. We decided to invest in the mixed drink maker because our 1st machine was such a hit at parties. The "I feel lucky" button is sooo much fun, everyone fights to make me a drink. Just a warning drunken roulette is a great time that night but mornings are a little rough. I highly recommend this machine, we have a few friends already saving up for one. Side note: Amazon.com will ship to Canada.
